It’s official- Alec Baldwin & Steve Martin will be hosting the 82nd Academy Awards on March 7th, 2010.
This is sure to be comedy gold the likes of which we’ve never seen. It will be the first time for Baldwin but Martin has hosted the annual ceremony twice before.
Today we’re asking for your most memorable (good or bad) Oscar hosting moments…

I liked when Spielberg won best director for schindlers list
November 4th, 2009 at 11:34 amI grew up watching Johnny Carson host the Academy Awards and he truly was the eptiome of the classy, witty host. Here is one of Carson’s Oscar quotes:
“Two hours of sparkling entertainment spread over four hours”.
I also saw the last few years of Bob Hope hosting the Oscars (he hosted something like 26 shows) and he was always fun and he came from the Golden Age of Hollywood which was perfect for the aura of the show. Here is one of my favourite Bob Hope Oscar quotes:
“Welcome to the Academy Awards, or as its known at my house, PASSOVER!”
One of my favourite moments has nothing to do with hosting; it was the first Oscar telecast after 9/11 and Woody Allen shocked the audience by walking onto the stage – you could hear the gasps from the audience and then rapturous delight in their applause. Woody has been nominated many times for Oscars and has won a few, but he had never shown up for the show. HIs appearance right after 9/11 was to honour New York City, a city that he loves to his core and is so closely associated with his films. I literally had tears in my eyes when Woody walked on that Oscar stage.
