Hi All,

Recently I had a chance to chat with Drew Snider aboard the newest SeaBus “The Burrard Pacific Breeze”. What a great day for a sail, I was also able to get to the bottom of a rumour about the Golden Ears Bridge tolls….Have a look….

Long Weekend Travel

posted on July 2nd, 2010 - Filed in In the News - 1 comment »

A lot of people took today off to enjoy an extra long weekend.  It was a VERY quiet commute this morning.  But one place that’s NOT going to be quiet over the next few days — is over at BC Ferries.  Growing up in Victoria, I’ve taken BC Ferries for most of my life.  And there’s nothing worse than being stuck in a long lineup during sailing delays.

BC Ferries has released some key travel times to avoid over the weekend.  And has also given you some ideas on what times to head to the terminals.  Check it out here.

Enjoy your weekend — whatever you end up doing!

Vaisakhi Vancouver 2010

posted on April 9th, 2010 - Filed in Uncategorized - No comments »

Let’s hope the weather stays nice for Vancouver’s Vaisakhi Day celebrations tomorrow. Beautiful floats, and dancing in the streets right through until 4:30pm. Take it in, but expect some traffic delays in the area of the parade. Here’s the route…

Street Closures in Vancouver will include:

  • Westbound traffic on Southeast Marine Drive, from Ross to Main Street
  • Main Street from Marine Drive to 49th Avenue
  • 49th Avenue from Main to Fraser
  • Fraser Street, from 49th to 57th Avenue
  • East 57th from Fraser to Ross
  • Ross Street from East 57th to Southeast Marine Drive

If you are planning on watching the parade, it’s probably best to leave your car at home and take Transit. Sit back and let someone else do the driving and enjoy!

Vaisakhi celebrations continue next weekend in Surrey….parade details to come.

Have a great weekend everyone!

With the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremonies coming up on Friday, there are some more road closures to be aware of.  Expect delays on, and around the following streets in Vancouver….

Boulevard between 10 am and midnight on March 12
    -   Expo and Pacific Boulevards will remain closed until March 16

Temporary pedestrian corridors will also be in effect on March 12 between noon and midnight, so vehicle access will be limited on the following streets:

 -   Expo Boulevard (Nelson Street to Smithe Street)
    -   Georgia Street (Hamilton Street to Cambie Street, northbound only)
    -   Granville Street (Smithe Street to Hastings Street)
    -   Hamilton Street (Smithe Street to Georgia Street, northbound only)
    -   Robson Street (Burrard Street to Hamilton Street)

All of these closures are subject to change, so I will keep you posted throughout the Games here on my blog,  and of course on Breakfast Television.

Talk to you soon!

Getting Around

Hard to believe that we’re getting closer and closer to the start of the Olympics! And no matter what side of the fence you’re sitting on (the “for” or “against”) — I think you can agree there’s a certain vibe buzzing around Vancouver and Whistler right now. And it’s exciting to know the entire world will be checking us out!

Traffic is already bad. And it’s going to get worse and worse as each day passes. Tune into BT each morning and Michel will keep you posted on all the traffic restrictions and road blocks. But if you plan to travel around Vancouver, or even up to Whistler during the games, check out this website. It’s loaded with tons of great information for commuters on how to get around during the Olympics.

By the way, I’m going to be in Whistler starting next week doing BT live each morning from the Village.  Can’t wait!
