Wow! What a great long weekend we had in Vancouver. And the weather was picture perfect for the Pride Parade on Sunday afternoon. Riaz, Dawn, Michel, Greg and myself got to take part in this year’s parade. We saw SO many viewers and handed out thousands of our BT fans (which came in very handy since the weather warmed up!).

Here are a few photos from Sunday’s Pride Parade. Hope you had a Happy Pride! We’re looking forward to next year’s parade!

Vancouver’s Gay Top Model

posted on April 25th, 2011 - Filed in Charity, CitySpotlight, Entertainment, Fashion, Local Events - 2 comments »

Over the long weekend, Michel and I got the chance to host the finale show of Vancouver’s Gay Top Model. It was an awesome night featuring performances, music and fashion! Nine young men strut their stuff down the catwalk at River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond. But in the end, only one would emerge the winner.

Congrats to Todd Johnston who was given the title “Vancouver’s Gay Top Model 2011″ and all the other models who took part. This was an awesome fundraiser for an amazing charity called “Friends for Life” — which does some very important work in our community. The organization is always looking for volunteers, and you can find out more information through the website.

Here’s a link to Vancouver’s Gay Top Model. And thanks to everyone who joined us for a very fun event! We’re already looking forward to next year’s competition!

Dancing with the BT Hosts

In light of the Riverdance crew stopping by the BT studios today, the producers decided to test our hosts’ dancing skills and put me on the spot to guess what genre they were performing.

Twelve types of dance were delivered and despite missing a couple of guesses, I think I did them justice in deciphering those memorable hip gyrations.

Just in case you missed it, have a look at this….

7th Annual Rogers Santa Claus Parade

posted on December 6th, 2010 - Filed in Charity, CitySpotlight, Entertainment, In the News, Local Events - 1 comment »

Wow!  What a fantastic time we had at the 7th Annual Rogers Santa Claus Parade in downtown Vancouver.  The weather totally co-operated.  And more than 300,000 people turned out — helping to raise money and donations for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank!

We got a chance to meet so many of you at the parade which was really cool.  But if you weren’t able to make it to see the parade in person, you can watch the televised version this coming Saturday December 11th at 6pm on Citytv in Vancouver.  It’s also going to air in Calgary and Edmonton.  Dawn, Riaz and I along with Larry and Willy from JACK-FM will be your guides for the show.

Here are a few pictures from our time at the parade!

Go Canucks Go!

The day has almost arrived!  The Canucks kick off their new season at Rogers Arena on Saturday night against Los Angeles.  We got into the hockey spirit this morning on BT.  All of us were decked out in the Canucks 40th Anniversary Vintage Gear — which is now available at the team’s store near Gate Six at Rogers Arena.

You can also check out the Canucks Team Outlet Store at Hastings and Renfrew in East Vancouver (right across from the PNE).

BBQ on the Bypass

Michel and I were asked to put our skills to work this weekend and help out as judges at BBQ on the Bypass out in Langley.  While the event primarily showcases meats — there’s one part that’s perfect for those of us with a sweet tooth.  Pies.

Michel and I put on our aprons and chowed down on homemade pies.  What an amazing selection of baked goods from some very talented chefs.  We sampled everything from apple pie (three versions), to blackberry cherry pie, to strawberry kiwi pie, to sweet potato banana pie.  Some of them were, interesting, to say the least.  But for the most part, this was a very tough job.  And we walked away (barely) with very full stomachs and a massive sugar hangover.

Until next year!

Generation Next

Michel and I had a chance to host the Generation Next Fashion Show last night at Granville Island. Wow! What an awesome event!

It was put on by the Honey Mustard and showcased three local designers — giving them a chance to have their fashions modeled in front of an audience.

There was such an awesome selection of styles. But in the end, Victoria’s Sofia Mendez Scheone came out on top.

Congrats to everyone who took part! We had a blast!

Joan Rivers – A Piece of Work

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about this one…

Joan Rivers – A Piece of Work opens in Vancouver later this week.  And tonight, I’m going to check it out at a special screening with Thor and Riaz.

OMG It's Joan Rivers on Rodeo Drive!

I am a HUGE Joan Rivers fan.  I ran into her on Rodeo Drive when I was in Los Angeles — and was blown away by the amount of paparazzi following her around, as you can see by the incredibly geeky photo my friend took of me.

Michel and Kyle with Joan Rivers

Michel and I went to see her last October when she performed at River Rock.  And she is by far, the funniest comedian I have ever seen in my entire life.  For being in her late 70’s, this woman is a true professional.  She was running around the stage keeping the crowd entertained with some of the most inappropriate and hilarious humour, I’ve ever heard.

If you EVER get a chance to see her in person — DO IT!

Check out the trailer for her movie here.  It’s getting really good reviews.  And watch BT for the full review on Friday morning!

This is going to be GOLD…!

Hi All,

Recently I had a chance to chat with Drew Snider aboard the newest SeaBus “The Burrard Pacific Breeze”. What a great day for a sail, I was also able to get to the bottom of a rumour about the Golden Ears Bridge tolls….Have a look….
