MJ is Immortal

His physical presence may be gone, but the legacy lives on. Today, Michael Jackson’s first single “Breaking News” from the upcoming album “Michael” was released online (http://breakingnews.michaeljackson.com/CA/). Some say he was a perfectionist that wouldn’t have wanted his unfinished work released this way, others like me, appreciate the fact we get new music from the late King of Pop.

I grew up on Michael’s music, so although this isn’t a classic like he brought us in the 80s, I still dig it. I’m one of the die hard fans that bit the bullet and shelled out some big dollars to watch a Jackson inspired “Cirque du Soleil” show and he’s not even going to be there. That and it’s a year away! The Immortal he truly is and I can’t wait!

At the time of writing this, you can still get tickets to the MJ’s Cirque Du Soleil Show – The Immortal. Check out ticketmaster.ca.

Did Madonna Go Too Far?

Madonna paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson Saturday night at O2 Arena in London and some are wondering if she went too far.  Click here to see the video.  Basically, the issue is the fact that she brought on an MJ impersonator who did some very authentic dancing.  I’m all for tributes but this one rubs me the wrong way.  Maybe it’s the fact that it’s still too soon or that it makes his death more of a spectacle.  Anyway, I want to know your thoughts…

Did Madonna go too far?

What a Day.

What a day yesterday was -

I walked alone into a greek restaurant for an early dinner and ended up sharing my meal around the television set with the staff in disbelief. I know I am not alone- Twitter and Facebook were all abuzz with memories and thoughts.

In looking through some of these Facebook status updates I was not surprised to see the criticism of him as well. Everyone has a right to their opinion about anything – but what I found tasteless were some of the jokes that have come up…just another indicator of how we tend to dehumanize celebrities…I work in the media so I know sometimes we are the worst offenders – but no matter what you think of him – someone died – and there’s nothing funny about that.

Ir doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor-successful or not-interesting or dull…when it’s your time, it’s your time. Be brave in life and live it best you can leaving nothing important for “tomorrow”

Sunshine and smiles (and today a few tears),

Sweet Moves

Anybody remember these guys from Britain’s Got Talent last year?  We teased this today in our “Blog Talk” segment on BT.  We were discussing how Michael Jackson’s siblings are attempting to derail his 50 “This Is It” concerts in London.  Read the details here.  Anyway, it got us talking about great Michael Jackson tribute artists and the king has got to be Suleman Mirza.  Check out his moves with partner in crime Madhu Singh from last year here.  This episode was viewed by 15 million people on ITV1- that’s a 54% share of the viewing public in the UK!

Too bad about those Canucks- oh well, I was over it 20 minutes after the game.  Time for the beard to go!

Get out and vote today peeps

A new UK MTV poll picks Michael Jackson’s 1982 classic Thriller as the best album ever.  I would have gone with Pink Floyd’s The Wall.

What is your pick for best album ever?

This Better Be It

Perhaps the biggest concert announcement of the year- Wacko Jacko is embarking on a 10-gig showcase at London’s O2 arena beginning July 8th.  He also hinted he would retire after this and I for one pray that this is true.  It’s time to put this Alien albino out to pasture.  It was amazing to see the spectacle that was the press conference in London today.  Thousands of rabid fans gathered, Jackson showed up 90 minutes later than billed and he basically gave no relevant information.  Won’t have any trouble selling those gigs out.  The only question I have regarding MJ now is- when does the biopic come out & who plays him?  Thoughts?

I know MJ has some moves, but he has nothing on this guy.

See ya
