7th Annual Rogers Santa Claus Parade

Wow!  What a fantastic time we had at the 7th Annual Rogers Santa Claus Parade in downtown Vancouver.  The weather totally co-operated.  And more than 300,000 people turned out — helping to raise money and donations for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank!

We got a chance to meet so many of you at the parade which was really cool.  But if you weren’t able to make it to see the parade in person, you can watch the televised version this coming Saturday December 11th at 6pm on Citytv in Vancouver.  It’s also going to air in Calgary and Edmonton.  Dawn, Riaz and I along with Larry and Willy from JACK-FM will be your guides for the show.

Here are a few pictures from our time at the parade!

Celebrities, Sesame Street & Lions

A busy week for this Web Guy. I’m a little tardy with the Video Picks from last week. But there were some really good ones and I don’t want you to miss them.

Remember Eric McCormack from Will and Grace? He stopped by to talk about a new play he’s in and shared a few witty quips as well. In our Behind the Scenes segment, Eric even filled us in on how to have a lasting celebrity marriage.

Mini Vans. Cool or Not? Well, Mark Docherty drives one and he’s starting to think it’s a pretty cool ride. Here’s what he had to say.

I don’t know any Canadian who wasn’t brought up on, or isn’t familiar with Sesame Street. Dawn Chubai went to Sesame Street in Abbotsford to hang out with some of our favourite pals from the show; and enjoyed a delicious breakfast with some very excited kids.

Go Lions Go! Greg Harper was lucky enough to hang out with some of the BC Lions football team at their practice field in Surrey. Paul McCallum and Casey Printers had a little fun with Greg. And let’s not forget the Felion cheerleaders. Roar You Lions Roar!

Let’s see if I can get the Video Pick of the Week out on time next week. Thanks for your patience and for checking out www.breakfastelevision.ca.

Kittens, Bloopers and Balls.

What a fun week it was. Dawn Chubai was on location for most of the World Cup soccer games (see Dawn’s Blog for Details ). Greg Harper was at the Libre Room to see the Netherland’s surprise win over Brazil. Since soccer was the theme, that’s how I’ll start this weeks blog. Not the World Cup, something on a smaller scale; but perhaps with greater impact.
An organization that believes a simple soccer ball might save a young person’s life.

Who doesn’t like bloopers? I cut together this beauty, compliments of our favourite trafficaster, Michel McDermott

The big movie release of last week, at least for the fans, was Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Here’s what Thor Diakow thought of it.

We celebrated Canada Day with a little Trivia. Let’s see if you can outsmart the BT Hosts.

If you’re a regular viewer you’ll know that every Monday we bring in a few cute, adoptable animals from the SPCA. We’re happy to say most of them have been adopted. But, there was one kitten this past week that just wanted to escape.

Thanks for reading and watching. Talk at you next week. Enjoy the sunshine ;)

BT ON LOCATION

posted on June 22nd, 2010 - Filed in Uncategorized - 1 comment »

June 14-18 on BT was one of my favourite weeks. I love it when we go out on location and meet amazing people.

Which brings us to the first video:

1) A bus ride, a whole school of kids and a movie. That’s right. Dawn Chubai, Riaz Meghji and a wack of BT staff jumped on a bus, headed over to Florence Nightingale Elementary to pick up some very happy students. Then whisked them off to the Metrotown Cinemas for Toy Story 3. A lot of laughs, cute kids and happy people. What more could you ask for?

2) June 17, 2010 was National Recess Day.
The BT Hosts relived some of their childhood recess moments, games and traumas. Guess who was being a schoolyard bully?

3) On Friday we were live at False Creek, learning about Dragon Boating, blowing things up, and going head to head in a race for the ages. Well, maybe that’s over doing it a bit. But Greg Harper and his boat crew did challenge Kyle Donaldson and Dawn Chubai to a race for Dragonboat supremacy.
Associate Producer Genevieve Skelton shot flipcam video of some of the fun, Behind-the-Scenes, moments.

Until next week folks. Scroll through the videos BT Bites on BreakfastTelevision.ca for more great behind-the-scenes, celebrity interviews, News Updates and BT Bloopers.

I hope you enjoyed last weeks Best of BT ‘Web Guy’ Picks.

We started out slow this week and finished strong. BT is always fun, but if you can get a band like Wide Mouth Mason to rock the house. Then a good show turns GREAT!

Here are my picks for the week of May 31 – June 4

One of the Editor’s found some footage of Thor and Riaz in the same news story from 2005. They didn’t even know each other back then. Was it meant to be?

I love Behind-the-Scenes footage from movies and television. We are trying to do that more here on BT. Here’s Mark Docherty having a little fun with Michel McDermott

And finally. As promised. Wide Mouth Mason Rocked the BT studios on Friday, June 4.
They were even fun behind the scenes.

Thanks for watching BT and breakfastelevision.ca. Give me your opinions and comments. And I promise to be pro-active. Unless the comments are mean. That’s just not nice ;)

The End Is Nigh

Disaster movies- I love to hate ‘em.  Many have graced us with their presence- I’ve always been partial to aliens so Independence Days ranks as one of my favourite “end of the world” flicks.  2012 hits theatres tomorrow (look for our own Mark Docherty’s cameo) and it’s sure to be one of the most ambitious, special-effects driven, big-budget disaster movies ever.  Check out this link to 13 cinematic tales of disaster.

Today we’re asking- What is your favourite disaster flick?

We had a blast on today’s show….we had snowfall warnings issued and the common thread throughout the show was Mark teasing me that it wouldn’t happen…well, it did – and boy did a I get him back with a one-sided snowball fight!

I am off Monday – see you all on Tuesday!

Have a great weekend everyone!
