Friday Fave – FLYING!

I don’t think I’m up for skydiving…you know, that whole jumping out of a plane thing kind of freaks me out – but this MAY be the next best thing! It’s called Fly Zone , and you get to experience the part “after” the jump!

The instructors were awesome  – here’s the VIDEO  if you missed the segments on BT! They are only at the location until mid-February until they have to move to a different location (TBA)  – so give them a call!

Highly recommend this experience!

Planking

Jody and Riaz did a plank-off on Breakfast Television this morning. Riaz lasted around 3:30 before collapsing on the set. This is HARD stuff!
We got the idea for a planking challenge a few days ago, when my fellow BT producer Catherine challenged me to a planking duel in our newsroom. Catherine won (I won’t say how long I lasted…but I’ll say Riaz had better luck than me).
How long can you hold the planking position?!

Just a quick post to thank EVERYONE who came to the gig with Dal at the River Rock Casino! A great time was had by all and the dance floor was full right from the 1st song (In the Mood).

Performing New Year's Eve with Dal Richards!

Performing New Year's Eve with Dal Richards!

I have decided that I would like to make 2012 the year I put out a new recording – whether it is one song, or a whole album – I am going to record and release “something” !

In the meantime, feel free to check out my WEBSITE for more details on performances (both fronting my own group as well as one of Dal’s Gals)

Thanks for your support, and feel free to post your own goal or resolution on this page…it’s all about “putting it out there to the Universe!”

Just One of Dal’s Gals!

This year I am thrilled to be performing New Year’s Eve with the Dal Richards Orchestra at the River Rock Casino in Richmond! I will be one of Dal’s Gals (which also includes Diane Lines, Jennifer Hayes and the newest addition, Caroline Markos) as we ring in 2012 – how cool is that?!?

On January 5, 2012, Dal will turn 94 years old! To celebrate this BC Legend, Breakfast Television is devoting the Live Eye that day to host an on-air birthday party at his home during the broadcast (imagine having to get up at 6am on your birthday and have guests over? What a guy!). We will hear stories, see pictures and some of his memorabilia from his 7 decades of performing.

We are also expecting a few special guests to join us, so please tune in to BT on January 5 and celebrate with us!

I also encourage you to post your birthday greetings to Dal here on my blog…I would be happy to print them off for him and present your wishes that morning. I know he will be thrilled and grateful for your support!

Have a wonderful New Years Eve! Please be safe and don’t drive if you are drinking. We all deserve a great start to 2012!

Please be sure to check out my Official Website for upcoming gigs with Dal Richards as well as my own Jazz Stylings.

You may also follow me on TWITTER and FACEBOOK - thanks for keeping in touch!

Friday Fave – Ucluelet!

This week’s Friday Fave…Ucluelet!

My Husband, In-Laws and I had been to Tofino a few times, usually at Christmas which falls right into Storm Watching Season.

This time, we made our way to Ucluelet’s Black Rock Resort which can only be described as AMAZING. The weather was stormy coming in…Christmas brought some sunshine and Boxing day we were back to storms. All in all a PERFECT getaway.

I also have to give props to the Float Lounge for my new favourite (bonus Friday Fave!) warm drink: the Ukee Fog! It’s Steamed Milk with Navan Cognac  and then you top it with some chai tea (you make a little pot and keep topping it off). Delish!!!!

Have a great Weekend!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM TRANSLINK!

posted on December 30th, 2011 - Filed in Uncategorized - 1 comment »

Happy New Year All!

Here is the New Years schedule for your Translink services…

Celebrate safely!

Come on and take a FREE RIDE!

TransLink longer service Dec. 31 and it’s free after 5!

Once again this year, TransLink is making it easier for people to get home safely from New Year’s Eve celebrations, with enhanced and extended late-night transit service on New Year’s Eve.

From 5pm until the close of service (nearly 5am January 1st), public transit is free on all modes.

SkyTrain will run an extra hour, so the last departure from Waterfront Station is at 2:05 a.m. (Canada Line to YVR-Airport), 2:15 a.m. (to Richmond-Brighouse) and 2:16 a.m. (Expo/Millennium Lines). The last SeaBus leaves Lonsdale Quay at 2:06 a.m. and Waterfront at 2:20 a.m.

Buses will run on the Saturday schedule, but extend late-night service on certain routes, and in some cases, the “regular” route will overlap with the complementing NightBuses. This will provide more capacity on those routes and provide more opportunity for people to choose public transit. Details of those service extensions can be found at http://www.translink.ca/en/Schedules-and-Maps/Holiday-Service.aspx. This information is subject to change, but updated information is on the TransLink Trip Planner at www.translink.ca. The Trip Planner is an excellent resource for customers to plan ahead and be aware of when the last buses run.

On Sunday, Jan. 1, all service will run on the sunday/holiday schedule. Service will return to the usual weekday schedule on Monday, Jan. 2, except for West Coast Express, which will not run that day at all; and all service will be back to normal on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

TransLink and its 7,000+ employees and their families with everyone all the very best for 2012!

Happy Chanukah!

Spent a wonderful morning at Solly’s Bagelry as we celebrated the first day of Chanukah (last night was Chanukah eve). Leah was able to show us through her production kitchen, we made Jelly Donuts, Ragolah and Latkes and learned of the significance of each of these foods as well as the significance of lighting the Menorah.

If you get a chance to go to Solly’s – be sure to have a potato and onion Knish or the Borscht – they are my fave!!
