Edith’s Inception

inception

Inception continues to blow my mind…

Hans Zimmer, the film’s composer, has revealed the entire score is from one Edith Piaf song!  Check out the article here.

I also found this YouTube video that does a fairly good comparison of the original version of “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” and the slowed down version that serves as the film’s dramatic score.

BONUS: You may also recall Marion Cotillard (who plays Mal in the movie) won an Oscar for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in “La Vie En Rose”!

WOW!

Hey Peeps,

I came across some amusing links on this fine Wednesday…

You may have seen Inception but you haven’t seen this delightful mashup- Bill & Ted’s Excellent Inception!

And, this is very cute…

A family shot some video of  a black bear having some fun while they were on a chairlift in Whistler.  Check it out here.

Have a good one!

Confused Much?

vanilla sky

So ‘Vanilla Sky’ has topped a poll asking people what the most confusing movie of all time is.  I don’t recall all the details about this movie but I don’t remember being confused, just bored.

If you want a confusing movie, check out Philip Seymour Hoffman in ‘Synecdoche, New York‘.  I guess it’s some kind of art house film but I found it puzzling to the point of extreme tedium.

What’s the most confusing movie you’ve ever seen?

seinfeld

Attention Seinfeld Fans…

I’ve seen some great mashups on the internet in my day but none come close to this fake trailer for “Serenity Now“.  Basically, picture the hit show Seinfeld as a dramatic, action-packed movie.

Enjoy!

Yo Peeps,

Check out my weekly DVD/Blu-ray review segment.  This week you’ll find a romantic stinker that passes for comedy these days, a gripping WWII action (true) story about a Norwegian freedom fighter & a classic Christopher Nolan throwback with Al Pacino & Robin Williams.

The Hollywood Treatment?

barefoot bandit

By now I’m sure you’ve heard of the “Barefoot Bandit”; he’s being called America’s most endearing criminal.  This story has shades of Frank Abagnale Jr., whose exploits were depicted in the Steven Spielberg classic “Catch Me If You Can”.

There are reports a Hollywood producer wants to turn Colton Harris-Moore’s  epic caper into a movie (OBVIOUSLY!) but one question remains…

Who should play the “Barefoot Bandit”?

Day of the Dolphin

dolphin

This is so disturbing and sad – a poor little captive dolphin in Japan jumped out of its’ tank, seemingly to commit suicide because it leads such a dismal life.  Check out the video here but I must warn about the graphic nature.  Dolphin “suicide” is not as far-fetched as it seems.  Legendary trainer Ric O’Barry (who worked with Flipper) touches on this subject in the Oscar-winning documentary (essential viewing) The Cove.  Just think twice next time you see a playful dolphin in a tank or consider one of those “swimming with the dolphins” encounters.
