And they’re off!

posted on April 30th, 2009 - Filed in Uncategorized - 2 comments »

It is race day at the Hastings Racecourse in Vancouver on Friday.  Oh yes, we will be there in the morning.

Sometimes horses can get spooked rather easily.  I’m going to channel the ‘horse whisperer’ side in me to make sure that doesn’t happen.

We’ll be talking to jockey Stephanie Fedora, trainer Dino Condilencios, Hastings GM Raj Mutti and head starter Joe Gray.

(imagine the sound of an airhorn here) “Annnnnd…I’m off!”

Crumbs of a different kind

posted on April 21st, 2009 - Filed in Uncategorized - 1 comment »

Tomorrow it is Earth Day.  We figured it would be a great time to see just what is done with 40,000 tonnes of scrap tires in BC.  You might be surprised how some of these tires make it back into our lives.

Rubber crumbs….look out.  Here we come.

It’s that time of year…

I’m trying to figure out if I am suffering from allergies or a cold right now.  It could be both.

I think tomorrow I will know for sure because I’m going to be gardening.  Yes we are going to learn how to repair your garden and learn all about planting.  Did you know that It is the trend right now for people to grow their own food?  More and more people are doing this nowadays because of our current economic situation.

Ever heard of worm bins?  I’ll find out how the bins work tomorrow as well.  Also…yes I’m not done yet…we’ll learn how to give your fence a quick makeover and how to build or renovate your patio.

I’ll be busy and dirty on Thursday.

See you in the morning.

BBQ Season

Oh yes.  It is here.  It is BBQ’ing time once again.

My wife and I contemplated taking the propane tank in for a refill this past weekend but decided to hold off until this Saturday.  On the dinner menu this Saturday, steak & baked potato.  Maybe we’ll cook some veggies wrapped in foil with garlic, butter and herbs inside.  Mmmmmmm.

Have you fired up the BBQ yet this year?  We’ll be getting tips on safety and of course on how to cook the perfect meals on the BBQ.

Can’t wait!

Chocolate for Breakfast

posted on April 8th, 2009 - Filed in Uncategorized - 2 comments »

Chocolate for breakfast?  No, not a good idea.  I mean I guess chocolate could be part of your breakfast but if that is all you have…no.  For breakfast today I had a cappuccino, a hot chocolate, chocolate caramel drop, chocolate fruit square and a pastry.  I am still riding high and my blood sugar level ain’t exactly level right now.  Having said that, the chocolate and pastries at Thomas Haas Fine Chocolates & Patisserie in North Vancouver is outstanding!  You want some great chocolate, head there.  Just eat something before hand.

Bruises have healed and more…

What a busy weekend I had.  I spent a good part of it standing up as my wounds from last Fridays tango with several pro wrestlers got a chance to heal.

Kyle Donaldson and I hosted and judged, ‘Langley’s Got Talent’ on Sunday.  Langley DOES have talent as 15 singers sang their hearts out for us.  I filmed some of the competition and will be posting some of the viz on my blog.  I’m just waiting for the batteries on my flip camera to recharge.

I ain’t no basketball player, I’ll tell you that.  It was good fun though with the Vancouver Titans this morning.  Head down to the Langley Events Centre for some entertaining b-ball.  The Titans first home game is on April 24th in Langley.

Ever wonder what the police do while fighting crime when up in the air?  Wonder no more.  We will learn about Air One and Air Two on Tuesday and I’m going up in the air too!!

Talk to you later.

Horse Whispering.

After today I have to say I’m feeling morre comfortable around horses.  I’m a little smarter too when it comes to the massive, beautiful animals.  If you want to be entertained and not have to pay for it, you might want to head down to the Thunderbird Equastrian Show Park in Langley this weekend.  Some serious competition going on as competitors and their Arabian horses are trying to qualify for the Regional Championships.  Lots to see!

Pro wrestling is a tough sport as it is.  Some don’t consider it a sport because of the scripted matches and story lines that are created.  Believe me, like it or not, it is a sport and these men and women put their bodies to the test all the time.  How about wrestling non-stop for 3 days?  That is what 20 wrestlers will be doing in Port Coquitlam starting today.  The event is called Wrestling With Hunger.  The wrestlers are doing this to raise money for the Share food bank and to set a world record for the longest wrestling show ever.

I’m going to catch up with these generous and courageous athletes on Friday and see how they are making out.  Hopefully I won’t get roughed up in the process.  :)

Talk soon.

A day to remember….

posted on March 27th, 2009 - Filed in Uncategorized - No comments »

A day to remember for sure.

On a sad note, we lost quite a character today.  It came as a huge shock to all of us at the station when we learned that Grant Wyatt had passed away.  Grant worked here at Citytv for 30 years.  He has been called by some in the industry, ‘the best cameraman in the business.’  He was a very creative person and what a personality.  I went on a shoot with him once and it is a car ride I will never forget.  Man, was he funny.  I’ll miss you Grant like all of us will.

On a happier note.  I got to meet and interview Divine Brown and Carly Rae Jepsen today.  A suite inside the Shangri-la Hotel in Vancouver was turned into a swag lounge for the celebs.  Good luck to Divine Brown whose song, ‘Lay It On The Line’ is nominated for “Single Of The Year” at the Junos this Sunday.

Carly Rae Jepsen is currently on tour as her song, ‘Tug Of War’ is rising up the Canadian Adult Contemporary charts.  It sits at #7 right now and is a great tune.  I think she is going places.

Okay…time to rest up this weekend.  I’ve got a big week ahead of me that starts with learning how to stage your home for sellling in this tough economic time.  A stager will be with me and the executive producer of ‘The Stagers’ as well.  Should be informative and fun.

Talk to you later.

I’ve never been to Cuba.  Tuesday will be as close as I’ve been.  I’m going to see and learn all about the various Cuban dance styles.  Reggaeton and Sabor are just a couple of the styles I will be attempting.

Look out!

By the way, what is your favourite dance movie?

BT Petday

Do you have a pet?  A dog perhaps?  Make sure to tune in Friday as I’m at Tisol in Vancouver.  There will be several dogs there and maybe a cat or two as well.

We are going to learn the latest in puppy training, check out some holistic pet food, try some dog toys and see some of the latest in pet fashion.

Animals are a good thing for morning television.
